SPOKANE, Wash. — Law enforcement is investigating a surge of suspicious fires reported throughout Spokane over the past few days.
According to the Spokane Fire Department, the first of the 15 fires was reported just after midnight on July 8 in front of the Red Wagon in Riverfront Park. Crews arrive to find a scorched landscaping bush.
Just after 4:15 a.m. that same morning, a second fire was reported outside My Fresh Basket.
Around 30 minutes later, firefighters responded to two more fires near East Spokane Falls Boulevard and North Pine Street. One of these fires was burning in bushes and another had damaged an EV charging station.
Just before 5:15 a.m., firefighters were sent to the area of South Sherman Street and South Sheridan Avenue for two separate homes on fire as well as several small fires in a two-block radius.

Later Tuesday afternoon, SFD and Spokane County Fire District 9 put out a grass fire in a field between two homes on North Atlantic Street.
Around 2:30 p.m., crews also responded to two brush fires along the Centennial Trail near West Elliot Drive. While at those fires, firefighters found two more fires that had spread rapidly uphill toward Spokane Falls Community College.
At around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, another fire was reported near North Ash Place and West Euclid Avenue. Firefighters arrived and found a fast-moving fire on a hillside that was threatening homes. The fire was contained within 20 minutes.
Just after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the last fire was reported in People’s Park on West Riverside Avenue. The fire was burning grass and trees and was under control in 20 minutes.
No injuries have been reported for any of these fires.
Spokane Police and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources are investigating these fires.
