SPOKANE, Wash. — In an effort for transparency, the Spokane Police Department says it will now release video summaries of police shootings under investigation.
According to SPD, the summaries will feature the 911 calls, body-cam footage, and other elements from the incident that are legally permissible. Raw footage will still be available through the Public Records Act.
The initial release is from a domestic violence investigation in January. The suspect was shot and arrested after being medically cleared.
The investigation into this incident has been finished and the findings forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if the officers were lawful in the shooting.
