PULLMAN, Wash. — Today is the first full day of summer and the Pullman Police Department wants to remind everyone about summertime campfire safety.
When you’re out enjoying campfires, you can stay safe by clearing a 10 foot diameter around the campfire of any flammable material, keeping water nearby, extinguishing campfires completely, and keeping fires small and under control.
Also, never leave a campfire unattended, don’t play near campfires and supervise all children and pets near campfires.
The city of Pullman allows portable propane fire pits, propane barbecues, pellet grills and smokers. WSU does not allow the use of charcoal grills, wood burning campfires or bonfires. All outdoor leaf, garbage and yard waste burning is banned within city limits.
