SPOKANE, Wash. — Just as they were about to hang up the ladle forever, one of Spokane’s most popular soup spots announced it’s starting a new chapter!
On Sunday, Soulful Soups and Spirits announced it has new ownership and a new location.
Longtime former owner, Lauren D’Arienzo, posted the announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page:
“After 25 wonderful years, I’m excited to share that Soulful Soups has YET a new chapter ahead (papers are signed and this is real!). I am passing the ladle to a fantastic new duo — Aaron & Kaden Earle. Since opening in 2000, Soulful Soups has been a beloved part of Spokane, and it’s bittersweet to say that we weren’t able to stay in our original location. I am sad to leave that space behind, but I’m so excited for what’s ahead. The good news is, Soulful Soups will continue on! Aaron & Kaden share the same passion for heartfelt service, delicious soups, and community spirit that I hope I showed to you. They’re ready to bring their own touch to this special place and they will introduce themselves in the very next post.”
In April, the restaurant said it planned to permanently close after the building’s landlord decided not to renew the lease.
“It’s the saddest thing. My only intention was to keep it here forever and ever and ever. That’s just not going to be the case,” said D’Arienzo back in April.
Under the new ownership, the restaurant will move from its previous location on North Howard Street to 111 S. Madison.
D’Arienzo said the new owners will host a soft opening sometime this summer and plan to be fully open by the fall.
“Cheers to new beginnings, community, lots of soup and beer bread of course,” she wrote in Sunday’s Facebook post.
