Blake Lively just scored a big legal win—and she’s speaking out.
A judge has dismissed Justin Baldoni’s massive $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times. The actress, 37, took to Instagram Stories to share how the legal battle affected her, calling it “painful” and “retaliatory.”
“Like so many others, I’ve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us,” she wrote. “While the suit against me was defeated, so many don’t have the resources to fight back.”
Blake says she’s now even more committed to standing up for women’s voices and their right to protect their safety, dignity, and stories.
“Many of you I know. Many of you I don’t. But I will never stop appreciating or advocating for you,” she added.
Of course, Baldoni’s legal team is pushing back. His lawyer Bryan Freedman called Blake’s response “predictable” and “false,” saying the judge is allowing them to amend four of the seven dismissed claims. He also made it clear the fight isn’t over, adding that he looks forward to deposing Blake as the case moves forward.
So while Blake’s feeling relieved, this courtroom drama might not be totally behind her yet.
