US gymnastics officials are disputing a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that led to Jordan Chiles being asked to return her bronze medal from the floor exercise final at the Olympics. The CAS vacated an inquiry made by Chiles’ coaches that had boosted her score — but was allegedly filed four seconds too late. This decision resulted in the reassignment of the bronze to Ana Barbosu of Romania. However, USA Gymnastics has submitted video evidence indicating that the inquiry was made within the required :60 time limit. For now, The International Gymnastics Federation and the IOC have adjusted the final rankings accordingly, moving Chiles to fifth place. (NPR)
