WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — A man convicted of second-degree rape was sentenced to life in prison Monday after a Whitman County judge rejected his request for alternative sentencing.
According to the Whiteman County Prosecuting Attorney, Davis Eneas sought a Special Sex Offender Sentencing Alternative (SSOSA) that would have allowed his release into the community after serving up to 365 days in county jail, followed by up to five years of sex offender treatment.
Senior Deputy Prosecutor Tessa Scholl, the victim and the victim’s mother all objected to the SSOSA. Judge Palubicki denied the request.
According to the media release, Eneas will be eligible for his earliest possible release after serving 90 months. The Indeterminate Sentencing Review Board will determine when or if he should be released.
Eneas must register as a sex offender indefinitely. A lifetime Sexual Assault Protection Order remains in place for the victim.
“Jane Doe and her mother supported this resolution to the case and feel that justice has been served and they can now both move on with their lives and heal,” Scholl said.
