SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane City Councilmember Lili Navarrete officially resigned from city council on Monday.
Navarrete has lived in Spokane’s East Central neighborhood for over three decades and has represented District 2 since January 2024.
“I am proud of my contributions as a Council Member, such as introducing the ordinance concerning the Human Rights and Basic Dignity of Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and the Language Access Ordinance. I have strived to bring diversity and inclusion to the workplace, and I hope my efforts have positively impacted the City Council and its employees,” she said in her official resignation.
She said she enjoyed her time on City Council and working with her fellow councilmembers.
“Working under Council President, collaborating with fellow members, and partnering with opposing members on controversial issues has been enlightening,” she said.
Navarrete’s last day on City Council will be June 30.

“With great sadness and heavy consideration, I have decided to resign as a Council Member for District 2, where it has been an honor to represent my beloved district. Since immigrating from Mexico City, I have lived in Spokane’s East Central neighborhood for 37 years. This neighborhood has shaped me into a passionate advocate for a safe, clean, and prosperous city for all.I am proud of my contributions as a Council Member, such as introducing the ordinance concerning the Human Rights and Basic Dignity of Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and the Language Access Ordinance. I have strived to bring diversity and inclusion to the workplace, and I hope my efforts have positively impacted the City Council and its employees.However, as much as I have enjoyed my role, it is time for me to move on to new challenges and opportunities. I am confident that the Council will continue to thrive without me, and I have complete faith in the team to tackle any challenges that come their way. Last, I am fortunate to have been a part of the amazing City Council team and have genuinely enjoyed my time here. Working under Council President, collaborating with fellow members, and partnering with opposing members on controversial issues has been enlightening. The passionate Council staff provides specialized knowledge that helps advance transformative policy.As I wrap up my current projects, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
