SPOKANE, Wash. — Families in Spokane enjoyed the beautiful Saturday morning weather at the Inland Northwest’s largest plain air painting festival, Brush on the Bluff.
The annual festival, put together by Friends of the Bluff and the Botanical Alchemist, brought together nearly 50 artists who all painted outside along a trail in Polly Judd Park.
“It started out with nine artists and we had to beg. It was a big ask for a lot of local artists,” said Ava Barany, the founder of the Botanical Alchemist. “But now there’s an application process; they come to us, and we have up-and-coming artists and some old-school professional artists. We have a great blend.”
Families enjoyed food, local vendors and art workshops.
Paintings created at the festival will be displayed and auctioned to support community art projects.
