SPOKANE, Wash. – If you have plans in downtown Spokane Saturday, you’ll want to work around road closures for the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade.
The City of Spokane will start closing down streets at 8 a.m.
The parade, a tradition that dates back to the late 1930s, will hit the streets at 7:30 p.m. People will stake out their viewing spots many hours earlier.
Here’s a schedule of street closures:
8 am: Spokane Falls Blvd between Stevens and Post. Wall and Howard between Spokane Falls Blvd and Main.4 pm: Spokane Falls Blvd between Browne and Monroe Washington/Stevens between Spokane Falls Blvd and Boone4:30 pm: Calispel, Normandie and Atlantic will close between Cataldo and Boone. Cataldo between Division and Washington. Howard St between Boone and Mallon. Joe Albi Way between Howard and Washington5:30 pm: Washington/Stevens between Boone and 2nd. Post Street between Main and 2nd. Wall and Howard between 2nd Ave and Spokane Falls Blvd. Spokane falls Blvd, Main, Riverside, Sprague and 1st between Washington and Lincoln
Parking is prohibited along the parade route. Streets will reopen around midnight Sunday.
The parade starts at Spokane Falls Boulevard and heads south on Washington.
It turns west on 1st Avenue, then winds through the street until it ends at Spokane Falls Blvd and Post.
