SPOKANE, Wash. — The FBI is investigating a rise of incidents involving people pointing lasers at aircraft in Spokane.
According to the FBI, the agency is seeing a dramatic increase of people pointing lasers at planes flying near Spokane International Airport.
The FBI says incidents have occurred in the West Plains, Nine Mile Falles, Green Bluff and Hillyard neighborhoods. There are also multiple reports incidents in Seattle near SEA-TAC but not believed to be related.
The FBI is working with local authorities to locate the individuals involved and is asking for the public’s help.
Pointing a laser at an aircraft is a federal offense and could lead to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
