SPOKANE, Wash. — Federal authorities arrested a man wanted for homicide in Mexico during an operation in Spokane on Friday.
According to U.S. Marshals, Jesus Salas-Rubio was taken into custody near East Mission Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on April 18th.
The U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force led the arrest with assistance from Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Spokane Police, and Washington State Department of Corrections.
The Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs coordinated with the Eastern District of Washington to issue the warrant on April 16th.
Salas-Rubio was booked into the Spokane County Jail and Mexican authorities have been notified.
His criminal background includes prior offenses involving shootings, assaults, and firearms violations.
“The U.S. Marshals prioritize working with global law enforcement partners to pursue justice for victims, no matter where the crime occurred,” said U.S. Marshal Craig Thayer.
Salas-Rubio is being held without bail pending his federal court appearance.
