SPOKANE, Wash. — Voters in two Spokane County districts face important decisions on Tuesday as a special election approaches.
Ballot measure Proposition 1 for the Orchard Prairie School District ask voters to approve a $6.2 million bond measure to replace its aging school facilities, including the original building that dates back to 1894.
Ballot measure Proposition 1 for Fire District No. 8 would authorize the district to restore its EMS property tax levy to $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value beginning in 2025.
The Fire District No. 8 levy requires a simple majority or 60% approval to pass.
For a home valued at $400,000, this would represent an annual tax of approximately $200 for emergency medical services.
The April Special Election is a partial-county election for residents in Orchard Prairie School District and Spokane County Fire Protection District No. 8 only.
