SPOKANE, Wash. – One of Spokane’s favorite muralists is at it again.
A local artist leaves behind a little piece of himself with every mural he spray paints. Now, his murals are all over town.
“I have the hopes that my artwork is adding to the community… and uplifting in a way,” said Daniel Lopez, who’s known by many as ‘Godffiti’.
His latest work features Lakers star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi who died in a tragic helicopter crash in 2020. When Godffiti was asked to do it, he struggled with how to turn a great loss into love.
But once he started painting, he never looked back.
“It felt like these angels were administering to me. These angels were helping me continue and complete this project,” said Godffiti.
The fact that Godffiti finished the mural the same day the Lakers unveiled a statue of Kobe and Gigi outside their arena makes it even more special.
“I don’t believe in coincidences, but it was definitely meant to be at this time.”
