CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — A man died while BASE jumping about 10 miles north of Wenatchee on Sunday afternoon, according to Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 8:30 a.m. on March 30, CCSO responded to a report of a BASE jumping accident near milepost 202 on Highway 97A.
CCSO said 47-year-old Elliot Barstow of Entiat, Washington was in the process of jumping when his parachute failed to fully open.
Witnesses told deputies the parachute failure caused Barstow to spin, hit a nearby rock wall and fall over 600 feet to the ground.
First responders declared Barstow dead at the scene.
