SPOKANE, Wash. — Governor Bob Ferguson met with Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown Saturday to discuss the state’s budget challenges.
While in town, Gov. Ferguson also visited the Veterans Home where he met with those who lived there and discussed future plans for the home.
“We have a location. We have what seems to be a willing seller. We have state funds in the budget. If we bring all that together for a landing, we will still need the federal dollars,” Gov. Ferguson said. “That will be important on my next trip back to Washington D.C. to be advocating for this because it’s needed.”
The proposed site for the new Veterans Home is next to the VA Medical Center in Northwest Spokane.
The budget request for this project has been submitted and next steps are dependent on if the legislature will allocate funds for it in the capitol budget.
