GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — Scammers are posing as deputy assessors in Grant County to gain access to homes, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, a Moses Lake resident reported to GCSO that a bleach-blonde woman driving a blue SUV knocked on their door and claimed to be a deputy assessor.
GCSO said the person was an imposter and a real Grant County deputy assessor will have a white, marked county vehicle, a county employee identification card and county business cards.
The Sheriff’s Office said the imposters are most likely posing as assessors to familiarize themselves with your home to later return and burglarize you.
GCSO said if you’re unsure the person claiming to be a deputy assessor is legitimate, ask to see their credentials. If you are still skeptical, do not let them inside your home and report them to MACC at 509-762-1160.
