SPOKANE, Wash. – Whether you’ve never ran a day in your life or you’re trying to earn a personal best time; it’s important your mind and body are prepared for the 12k (7.46 mile) race of Bloomsday.
Fleet Feet in Kendall Yards hosts group training programs all year long and has just started up it’s annual Bloomsday/10k program.
Running coach Kati John said the program has about 60 people signed up to train for future races throughout the Inland Northwest. She also emphasized that any level runner or walker is invited to join the judge-free group.
“Running is hard. No matter what running is hard and it’s going to be hard for a good chunk of time, but doing it with someone else and having someone walk you through the process makes it so much easier,” John said.
The spring training meets twice a week: Wednesdays for a group workout and Saturdays for a long run. Mentors and coaches are with you along the way to provide tips for nutrition, strength, endurance and even work with running hills to prep for things like ‘Doomsday Hill’ for Bloomsday.
