SPOKANE, Wash. — The man who shot his mother and two sisters Tuesday in an incident that drew deputies into what would become a deadly ambush, has been identified as Ryan T. Larsen.
A search warrant that became public Thursday states Larsen is reponsible for shooting two deputies, wounding his sister, and killing his mother and other sister. They have not been identified yet.
The warrant details a chaotic scene on the property at 18819 South Smythe Road Tuesday afternoon. At 2:23 p.m. a person called 911 saying her neighbor ran to her house saying her brother, Ryan Larsen, shot her in the chest. The victim said she was at the house to check on her mother and sister who she hadn’t heard from and was concerned for their wellbeing.
Multiple deputies responded to the scene. One wrote they used a drone to search the property and found a dead woman on the southeast corner of the property. The warrant states two deputies said they were ambushed by Larsen as they approached the house searching for more victims. Sadly, we know one deputy had died and the other is not expected to survive.
The detective filing the search warrant wrote Larsen, 37, had a confirmed felony warrant for attempting to elude in July 2025.
