SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane woman says someone broke into her home late last week and stole championship rings belonging to her daughter and son-in-law, both athletes at Montana universities.
Lyndsay Kerr says she feels violated after someone broke into her Spokane home late last week and took family heirlooms, including championship rings that belonged to her daughter and son-in-law.
Kerr had traveled to Montana to visit her daughter, Caylee, a soccer player at the University of Montana. When she returned home, she knew something was wrong.
“All of the drawers and things were all displaced. It was pretty obvious just walking in, that someone who wasn’t supposed to be here was here,” Kerr said.
Kerr said the stolen items include her daughter’s high school championship ring from Gonzaga Prep and a conference championship ring her daughter won at Montana. The rings also include a conference championship ring her son-in-law, Taco Dowler, earned while playing football at Montana State University.
Kerr said the rings have deep personal value to her family. She said she is devastated that the heirlooms were taken from her home, but she takes some comfort in knowing that law enforcement and fans of both the Montana Grizzlies and Montana State Bobcats are looking for them.
“Even the community being aware and looking online at websites they might be sold on is helpful. I can’t be looking everywhere. Somebody knows something,” Kerr said.
Anyone with information about the break-in or the rings is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
