HAYDEN, Idaho — The city of Hayden has made progress toward a new law enforcement services contract with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, city officials said Wednesday.
A draft agreement has been submitted to the Kootenai County Board of Commissioners for review, according to a city news release. The Hayden City Council is scheduled to consider the agreement at its Oct. 27 meeting.
Discussions continue over potential back payments for October, when the city said it was without a contract.
The city said it has proposed a month-to-month agreement addressing overtime billing, accountability and a direct overhead charge. If the county accepts those terms, the city said financial support for law enforcement services could resume immediately.
Both parties remain committed to public safety and reaching an agreement acceptable to each side, according to the city.
