BOISE, Idaho – Bryan Kohberger will not appear in a Boise court Thursday as scheduled. In fact, all of the hearings in his plea for post-conviction relief have been vacated.
Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022. He’s serving multiple life sentences.
Earlier this year, Kohberger filed for post-conviction relief, which is a civil process and a legal move that is rarely successful. Kohberger says his attorneys were not adequate and he didn’t have all of the information before pleading guilty.
Kohberger was supposed to be in court Thursday for the first hearing in that process. He wants a different judge to hear the civil case than the one who presided over the criminal matter. His attorneys also want the case moved back to Latah County where the crimes occured.
Wednesday morning, Idaho Courts sent a notice that the hearing has been vacated and will be scheduled for a later date.
The online case file shows two hearings scheduled for June were vacated as well, though no other information was immediately available.
