LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — The Jay and Kevin Show is bringing back its cherished annual food drive this week, continuing a three-decade tradition that has become a reliable source of support for Second Harvest Inland Northwest.
The event marks the 31st year that hosts Jay Daniels and Kevin James have organized the community fundraiser.
“Second Harvest is one of those where everybody can help. You don’t have to be a genius to figure out how to help; all you have to do is make a donation. All the food, all the money stays local here and helps the kids in our own neighborhood,” Daniels said.
All week, the Jay and Kevin Show broadcasts from RNR RV Center in Liberty Lake, located at 23203 East Knox Avenue. While the show concludes at 10 a.m. each morning, Jay and Kevin remain at the center until 6 p.m. to meet with community members participating in the drive.
Last year’s event raised nearly $58,000. Second Harvest Inland Northwest operates as a food bank serving 26 counties across Eastern Washington and North Idaho, making the annual drive a critical resource during the fall season.
Eric Williams, with Second Harvest, said the food drive has evolved into far more than an event.
“Over thirty years that these guys have held this food drive, just think about that, that’s a long time, and over the years they have brought in so much food, and so many financial donations. We have really come to rely on that, and so it is so helpful, particularly this time of the year, to know that Jay and Kevin show is going to bring us in a lot of donations,” Williams said.
People can drop off food and monetary donations at RNR RV Center through 10 a.m. on Friday. For those unable to come in person, online donations are accepted through the end of the weekend at 2-harvest.org/jayandkevin.
