OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — Okanogan County Emergency Management lifted all Level 3 evacuations Friday as firefighters increased containment of the Sinlahekin Fire to 44%.The fire, which started July 26 from a lightning strike, has burned 166,117 acres.Recent containment gains reflect coordinated efforts across multiple fire zones. Firefighters have secured containment from Douglas Mountain Road to Tiffany Trail, from Sarasapkin Creek to Wickiup Creek, and from Cecile Creek to the South Fork of Toats Coulee Creek on the fire’s west side. Firefighters conducted systematic searches for remaining heat in the Cecile Creek area, successfully calling many sections of that line contained.Hotshot crews reported no additional growth on a spot fire at Goodenough Peak, a remote area that has required specialized tactics.Recreation areas between Conconully and Loomis on the Tonasket Ranger District remain closed, and the Loomis State Forest is closed to recreational use.State parks around Conconully remain open for the holiday weekend.The Colville National Forest reduced fire restrictions to Stage 1, allowing campfires in designated developed campfire rings.For evacuation information go here.
