SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police arrested a man Thursday in connection with an arson fire at Lumberbeard Brewing that occurred early Saturday morning.
David Gilchunmogon, 43, was arrested on August 27 and faces a charge of second-degree arson related to the fire at the brewery located at East 3rd Avenue and South Pine Street, according to a Spokane Police Department press release.
The Spokane Fire Department responded to the fire at approximately 4:00 a.m. A fire investigator determined it was human-caused, according to SPD.
Video footage showed a male suspect climbing a fire escape while holding cardboard, then descending and walking away. Shortly after, flames appeared on the rooftop of an outbuilding. Police identified the suspect by a distinctive tattoo, his clothing and a dark-colored backpack.
Officers located Gilchunmogon at approximately 8:40 a.m. on August 27 wearing similar clothing and displaying an identical tattoo. He was carrying several lighters and a backpack containing scrap paper. Gilchunmogon told officers he had been sleeping on the roof of Lumberbeard Brewing.
Police are investigating Gilchunmogon as a possible suspect in other recent downtown fires.
In June 2024, he was suspected of starting fires in two dumpsters at a local downtown business and was arrested for second-degree malicious mischief after allegedly breaking windshields on vehicles at a local dealership.
