A strong cold front moves through this afternoon and evening, bringing gusty winds and a chance for thunderstorms across the Inland Northwest.
Plan Your Memorial Day
Temperatures Monday reach the upper 70s and 80s before a robust cold front arrives in the late afternoon. Thunderstorms are likely Monday evening as a result, and could be especially strong in North Idaho. These storms could produce nickel-sized hail and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. Blowing dust may also reduce visibility in the Columbia Basin as winds increase behind the front. Expect wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph. The most likely timeframe for storms is between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
What We’re Tracking
Unsettled weather continues through the week as a low pressure system lingers over the Western U.S. Tuesday will be much cooler with highs in the 50s and 60s and snow levels dropping to 5000 feet in the Cascades. Additional rounds of thunderstorms are expected Wednesday through Friday. Storms late in the week will carry an increased risk for heavy rainfall and some storms could become quite strong each of these afternoons.
