As a Fan… This Whole Situation Feels Wild and Honestly Kinda Sad
Okay… I don’t even know where to start because this has escalated so fast.
First, we hear that filming for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5 suddenly stopped. No real explanation at first — just that production hit pause. As a fan, that alone felt off because the show was finally hitting its stride.
Then the details start coming out… and it gets heavy.
Turns out the pause is tied to a domestic assault investigation involving Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen stemming from an incident in February. Police confirmed there’s an active investigation with allegations on both sides, and that alone was enough to make the cast step back and stop filming.
As a viewer, that already felt like… okay, this is serious. Not reality TV drama. Real-life consequences.
But then — somehow — it got even bigger.
A video from a past incident (from 2023) surfaces, showing a physical altercation between Taylor and Dakota. And within hours of that going public, ABC makes a huge move: they cancel her entire season of The Bachelorette. Like… fully scrapped. Three days before it was supposed to premiere.

I don’t think we’ve ever seen something like that happen this last-minute.
And as someone who watches both shows, it’s just… a lot to process. Because these aren’t random people — we’ve literally watched their relationship play out on screen. We’ve seen the highs, the chaos, the “are they okay???” moments. And now it’s spilling into real life in a way that’s honestly uncomfortable to watch.
It also kind of changes how you look at everything we’ve already seen. Like… was it worse than we realized? Were there signs we missed?
At the end of the day, it just feels bigger than TV now. Two shows are basically on hold, a huge franchise took a hit, and there’s a real family in the middle of all of this.
I’m still a fan of the shows, but yeah… this one doesn’t feel like entertainment anymore.
