MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 33-year-old man who was shot and killed by deputies Monday night in rural Moses Lake has been identified as Aaron Ammann, according to the Grant County Coroner’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said law enforcement first responded to a property on Road L.9 Northeast for an open investigation.
While deputies and officers with the Moses Lake Police Department searched the property, they found Ammann armed with a rifle inside a small barn.
The sheriff’s office said Ammann came out of the barn with the rifle leveled toward law enforcement.
Five deputies fired their weapons. No Moses Lake police officers fired their weapons.
Ammann was given medical treatment but died at the scene from his injuries.
The sheriff’s office said detectives from other law enforcement agencies will handle the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
