SPOKANE, Wash — Jonathan Bingle is running for Washington State House in the 6th Legislative District.
The former Spokane City Council member announced his candidacy on Monday.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Jenny Graham, who announced last week she would not be seeking re-election. Her term finishes at the end of this year.
The 6th Legislative District covers communities west and north of Spokane, including Airway Heights, Medical Lake, Country Homes, Mead and more.
In a press release, Bingle cited growing economic pressure on families, rising costs of living, public safety concerns, and increasing frustration with Olympia’s direction as reasons for entering the race.
“Washington is at a crossroads,” Bingle said in a release. “Families are struggling to make ends meet, neighbors don’t feel as safe as they should in our community, and too many decisions are being made far away from the people who feel the consequences every day. The stakes are simply too high to sit on the sidelines.”
Bingle is a lifelong Spokane resident, married with three children. He is also a small business owner and a former pastor.
