SPOKANE, Wash. — Seahawks fans gathered at River Park Square for a local Fan Fest, getting ready for the Super Bowl.
Dennis Bjerke, a die-hard Seahawks fan, parked his 1967 Volkswagen Bug outside the event. He decorated the car with Seahawks graphics and has had it for more than ten years.
“I drive the car every day, and I drive it with pride. And tomorrow I’m emotional — tomorrow’s going to be a good win.” Bjerke said.
The car got positive reactions from other fans around town all afternoon.
“People fist pumping me, waving at me. Honking. It means a lot to me,” Bjerke said.
Fan Fest featured activities and photo opportunities. Fans came dressed in their Seahawks gear. Kenny Ng wore his complete fan outfit.
“I just have my 12 fan jersey and my green shoelaces, my Seahawk beads, and Seahawk hat with pin from last Super Bowl,” Ng said.
The event drew all kinds of fans, including some who go by the “She Hawks.” Lanita Delarosa was excited about the team.
“We have an awesome team. So excited. I can’t even put into words,” Delarosa said.
Fans said the community support makes the experience special.
“You may not have a lot of things in common with people, but this brings us together,” Delarosa said.
Bjerke said Spokane fans are important to the team.
“In many ways, people in this town make the Hawks what they are,” he said.
