LIBERTY LAKE, Wash – Liberty Lake police have arrested a man suspected of stealing from construction sites.
Police were doing extra patrols in the area of 20900 East Indiana Avenue, not far from Orchard Park.
They say someone has been stealing from the area that has multiple homes under construction.
Around 3:00 Friday morning, police say two people in dark clothing riding bikes and wearing headlamps.
Police tried to talk to them, but they took off.
Police arrested one of them, Walter M. Merritt, while the other person got away.
Merritt allegedly admitted he and his friend were there to steal construction materials.
While arresting him, police say they found Merritt had several homemade explosive devices.
The county’s explosives disposal unit was called in to assist.
Investigators think Merritt was involved in other thefts in the area.
