COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The executive director of a childcare non-profit in Coeur d’Alene has been sentenced for a Medicaid fraud scheme.
According to the Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador, 49-year-old Tracy Hofius of North Star Child Development pleaded guilty to public assistance provider fraud.
The AG’s office says Hofius executed a scheme to submit fraudulent documentation to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and obtain Medicaid funds. Investigators says many of the services Medicaid paid out to North Star were not offered by the non-profit.
A judge placed Hofius on supervised probation, ordered her to pay about $154,000 in restitution and community service. Hofius also was fined $1,000.
