SPOKANE VALLEY, WASH – An 18-year-old from Coeur d’Alene is facing multiple felony charges after a late-night pursuit ended in a crash in Spokane Valley.
Troopers identified the driver as Dominic Oropeza, who they say was fleeing from officers just before midnight Tuesday.
WSP reports Oropeza was driving west on Mission Avenue when he attempted to turn right, hit a chain-link fence, and crashed into the yard of a home near Willow Road and Mission Avenue.
Investigators list speed as a factor in the crash.
Oropeza was injured and taken to Deaconess Hospital by a patrol car before being taken into custody.
According to WSP, drugs or alcohol were involved. Oropeza now faces charges including DUI, reckless driving, felony eluding, hit and run, and resisting arrest.
No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
