AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Two moose calves have been spotted in the city, and authorities are urging residents and visitors to keep their distance.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife advised the public not to approach, harass, or otherwise bother the animals, and said it is unknown whether the calves’ mother is nearby. “If the calves have not cleared out of the area within 24 hours, we will take measures to relocate them,” the agency said. Fish and Wildlife added that the calves were being monitored west of Airway Heights with their mother several days ago.
The calves were last seen walking west from the dog park behind the Galena Apartments, according to the Airway Heights Police Department.
Police asked the community to enjoy the moose calves from a safe distance and avoid interacting with them. “Please stay clear of the calves and enjoy them from a distance,” the department said.
