MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A Moses Lake man who led police on a pursuit through the area Friday morning has been arrested.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a sheriff’s sergeant saw 31-year-old Casey Kolb of Moses Lake in his pickup on State Route 17 just north of Moses Lake around 5:30 a.m. Kolb’s truck was stopped partially on the northbound shoulder and partially blocking the northbound lane.
The sergeant saw two people inside the pickup. As he stopped to check on the vehicle, Kolb accelerated, crossed into oncoming lanes of traffic and headed south on State Route 17.
Kolb led the sergeant on a pursuit that covered several miles of county, city, and state roads in the Moses Lake area.
The Sheriff’s Office said Kolb frequently reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, repeatedly served into oncoming traffic, avoided spike strips on two separate occasions and crashed at least once but continued driving.
Kolb eventually drove best on Baseline Road East, then south on Potato Hill Road and entered the Moses Lake Sand Dunes.
The sheriff’s office said it lost sight of Kolb after the pickup went off-road.
After tracking tire marks and footprints through the dunes, a 911 caller reported a suspicious person near Road J.2 SE, just south of the dunes.
Deputies went to the area and found Kolb hiding inside a shop.
Kolb was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of attempting to elude a police vehicle and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
The passenger of the pickup was located and later released.
