Patchy fog and low stratus clouds continue today and into the weekend, limiting visibility, while Air Stagnation Advisories remain in effect thanks to the inversions in place over our region.
Plan your Friday
Expect low clouds and fog to be an issue across the lowlands again today. Fog is a little more limited to higher plateaus this morning, which should help the morning commute a little. Light north winds could clear out the clouds and fog in some areas north of I-90, especially in Central Washington. However, I would not count on seeing the sun today in most areas.
What We’re Tracking
The dry and stagnant pattern, held in place by a strong ridge of high pressure off the Pacific coast, continues through at least Tuesday. Cooler air moving in from the north may slightly weaken the inversions beginning late Sunday. There is an increasing signal for more unsettled conditions to return late in the week after this pattern breaks. Stagnant air will continue to keep air quality a little lower than usual as pollutants get trapped near the ground in these inversions.
