POST FALLS, Idaho — A SWAT standoff near Post Falls on Saturday night led to the arrest of a Spokane man on kidnapping and assault charges.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out to a family disturbance on East Maplewood Avenue around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday.
Deputies said the suspect, 28-year-old Tristan C. Evans of Spokane, had recently been released from prison and was experiencing a mental health crisis.
Inside the home, the Sheriff’s Office says Evans threatened family members with a crowbar and prevented them from leaving. The family members were able to eventually escape and call 911.
The family said there were loaded guns in the home accessible to Evans.
Evans refused to surrender to deputies, and a SWAT Team was called to the home.
The SWAT Team was able to get Evans to surrender and he was arrested for charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and obstructing a peace officer.
