Ritzville, WASH. — East Adams Rural Healthcare (EARH) says its Ritzville Hospital is no longer at risk of closing. The Chief Operations Officer says no one will be laid off and they won’t have to file for bankruptcy.
“We’re back on our feet for sure, and 2026 is looking good,” said COO Dallas Killian.
He says some cost rebates came in from past audits which helped EARH financially. They also had increased revenue in the past couple months.
Killian says they’re also applying to become a Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) which opens them up for more funding and better reimbursement rates. While it requires approval from the state legislature, he said the leadership team will be holding a call with the Governor later today.
In a previous WARN notice submitted to the state, EARH wrote it may have to layoff 108 employees if it couldn’t resolve its financial situation.
The Interim CEO Todd Nida wrote at the time EARH is “experiencing severe financial difficulties and is at risk of closure or filing for bankruptcy.” He said they’ve had $13.4 million in losses between 2022-2025.
If the hospital were to close, the nearest ER is 45 minutes away.
