WALLACE, Idaho – The Shoshsone County Sheriff’s Office lobby will remain closed for another week, as crews clean up damage from a shooting in late December.
A 77-year old man from Mullan shot two women outside of the sheriff’s office the day after Christmas, then fired shots in the sheriff’s office lobby.
The two women survived with injuries to their legs.
The gunman, identified as John Drake, hunkered down in the sheriff’s office lobby for a short time before he was shot and killed by police.
Sheriff John Eddy said Friday, the lobby and the driver’s license office will stay closed until Monday, January 12th.
The sheriff shared photos from inside the office, showing that carpet has been removed and windows are boarded up.
“This decision doesn’t come lightly as we understand this is an inconvenience for our citizen’s [sic], but feel your saftey [sic] and the Sheriff’s Office employees saftey [sic] is important,” the sheriff said in a Facebook post.
