SPOKANE, Wash. – A man likely drowned in the Spokane River during a police chase, according to Spokane Tribal Police officers.
Police said it happened Sunday evening, while officers were trying to contact the man with active warrants out of Lincoln County, Stevens County, and Minnesota.
Detectives did not specify where they found the man.
The man tried to run from officers, who chased after him. Police said he jumped over an embankment into the Spokane River and did not resurface.
Officers looked for him and brought in recovery operations in their search. They did not find him and said he is presumed to have drowned.
