Enjoy the Friday sunshine, because fog and low clouds may limit our sunny hours this weekend for many mountain valleys as the weather pattern calms down.
Plan Your Friday
With wet weather done with for the time being, we’re set up for a nice, but blustery Friday. Expect breezy conditions all day with gusts from 30 and 45 mph at times. Winds will calm down by the evening. That will allow temperatures to drop quickly into the 30s before you go to bed Friday night.
What We’re Tracking
The weekend looks quieter with dry weather returning as a strong high-pressure ridge builds over the West Coast. Clear skies and calming winds tonight will allow temperatures to drop much further, down to freezing. However, there is some uncertainty about whether fog and low clouds that develop Saturday morning could get stuck in place under inversions. If this comes to pass, daytime highs this weekend would be in the 30s instead of the 40s and 50s. Early next week brings a slight chance of mountain showers and mild temperatures.
