SPOKANE, Wash. — A local foundation will host a documentary screening next week to raise awareness about the ongoing fentanyl crisis affecting communities across the region.
The Rayce Rudeen Foundation will host the exclusive screening of “Fentanyl: Death Incorporated” on Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at The Fox Theater in Spokane.
The documentary explores how fentanyl became the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 44.
The film looks at the crisis from multiple angles, including fentanyl’s origins, the devastating toll it takes on individuals and communities, and the need for an urgent and collective response.
According to the foundation, over the past year, more than 3,000 people in Washington have died from opioid-related overdoses, according to preliminary state data updated Oct. 7. In Spokane County alone, 205 deaths have been reported, with 82% linked to opioids.
“As a community, every one of us is impacted by this crisis—either directly or indirectly,” said representatives from the Rayce Rudeen Foundation. “Our goal is to bring people together, to learn, and to find ways to prevent further loss in our community.”
Following the film, attendees can participate in a question-and-answer session with Dr. Marbut and William Baldwin, along with community members to discuss local impacts and solutions.
Tickets cost $10-$15. Doors open at 4:45 p.m., and space is limited. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.foxtheaterspokane.org.
