SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man was sentenced on Thursday to 32 years in prison for shooting and killing another man in 2022, according to Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office.
On October 9, Spokane Superior Court sentenced 32-year-old Elijiah M. Harvey to 32 years in prison for the murder of 42-year-old Carlos Thomas in 2022.
According to court documents, Harvey and at least one other person were in a car and pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex near 7th Avenue and Perry Street on New year’s Eve 2022.
They parked next to another parked car, occupied by Thomas. After a few words were exchanged between the two cars, Harvey got out of his car and fired two shots into Thomas’ car, hitting and killing him.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Harvey and Thomas were acquaintances, but no motive was ever established for the murder.
Takao R. Bay, who was in the car with Harvey, was charged as an accomplice in the murder and sentenced to 33 months in jail.
Harvey will serve 36 months of community custody after his 32 years are completed.
