SANDPOINT, Idaho — A 52-foot houseboat was recently removed from Lake Pend Oreille after being submerged for over six months.
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, the houseboat became partially submerged in the lake during a storm back in March and sunk to the bottom of the lake during a windstorm.
DEQ says contractors raised the waterlogged houseboat from a depth of about 60 feet with inflatable bags. Multiple pumps were used to remove water from the hull before hauling the boat out of the lake to be dismantled.
The fuel that was on the boat was also successfully contained and removed.
