SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Humane Society is warning residents of scam calls circling around.
According to Spokane Humane Society, fake calls using the organization’s number are going out to residents, saying SHS has their lost pet.
The scammer then says the pet needs emergency surgery and begins demanding money through Venmo.
SHS says it will never demand payment via Venmo, CashApp, or similar platforms for medical services. It will also never do unauthorized medical care.
If you receive a suspicious call such as this, hang up and call SHS directly at 509-467-5235 to verify.
