FERRY COUNTY, Wash. — Evacuations are still in place for residents near the Rattlesnake Fire burning on the Colville Reservation, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources.
As of Sept. 5, Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders were issued for the following areas:
West side 9-Mile Hellsgate Road to the Redford Road Junction, then north from the Junction until the Little Nine Mile Creek RoadNorthside along Canteen Creek.South and East the Columbia River
Residents in Level 1 and Level 2 evacuation zones are encouraged to refer to the evacuation map in this article or visit the DNR Facebook Page.
The Rattlesnake Fire has grown from an estimated 6,052 acres on Thursday to 8,558 acres as of Friday, with 0% containment, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Officials said the fire was sparked by lightning. Air quality in the area is considered unhealthy.
The fire is located approximately 30 miles south of Inchelium and about 2 miles west of Seven Bays.
To put the size of the fire in perspective, one acre is roughly the size of a standard American football field, not including the end zones.
