SANDPOINT, Idaho — A boater who had been missing on Lake Pend Oreille since Friday has been found dead.
According to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, reports came in around 5:30 p.m. on Friday saying 71-year-old Rodrick Crawford of Sandpoint and his boat were overdue on Lake Pend Oreille following a severe storm in the area.
Deputies were able to locate the boat near the City Beach boat launch around 6 p.m. that day. Crawford was not in the boat when it was found.
The Sheriff’s Office continued to search for Crawford until his body was found Monday afternoon in Lake Pend Oreille north of the train bridge.
Preliminary investigations show that Crawford’s death was likely an accident and no foul play is suspected.
