COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A north Idaho therapy dog has earned his second nomination for the First Responder Paws Award hosted by FHE Health.
Rocket is a Brittany Spaniel who serves alongside the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain. Rocket supports deputies, dispatchers and community members by providing calm and reassurance in high-stress situations as well as participating in wellness outreach and community events.
This is Rocket’s second nomination for the award, which honors therapy dogs who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of first responders and their communities. Winners receive national recognition, a financial award and a donation to the First Responders Pack Foundation.
In 2024, Rocket earned an honorable mention for the award.
Public voting for the nominees opens on Wednesday and closes on September 12. Finalists will be announced on September 15 with the winner being revealed on September 18.
