SPOKANE, Wash. — A procession for fallen wildland firefighter Gonzales Romero will pass through the Spokane area Monday afternoon between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m., though holiday traffic may cause delays.
Romero died fighting the Bivens Creek Fire in Southwest Montana on August 24, 2025. The procession travels from Whitehall, Montana to Spokane.
East Side Fire District will be stationed at Wolf Lodge Bay freeway overpass, with other area agencies positioned along overpasses and ramps through the Silver Valley, Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Spokane.
Community members are invited to join in paying respects to the fallen firefighter.
