SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Three baby quail found their way back to their mama after they were rescued from a tricky situation on Wednesday morning.
On August 27, Spokane Valley firefighters came to the rescue of three quail that had fallen into a storm drain after being separated from their covey, which is the term for a flock of quail.
A video shows the firefighters on the ground with the storm grate removed, reaching into the drain to pull out the tiny quails.
“Here birdy, birdy, birdy,” one of the firefighters called, trying to attract the quail chicks.
SVFD said a TDS Fiber crew working nearby also leant a hand.
The three babies were all released into a nearby flower bed where the mama Quail and the rest of the covey were hiding.
